Renalyx Health Systems Pvt. Ltd., the Bengaluru-headquartered based medical technology company, on Wednesday unveiled its first fully indigenous and affordable hemo-dialysis machine. The company aims to disrupt the India's reliance on costly imported devices and making kidney care more accessible.

The dialysis machine called RENALYX – RxT 21 with a starting price of Rs 6.70 lakh, with an aim to reduce the total cost of ownership by 40 percent compared to imported alternatives. The per-session dialysis costs can range from Rs 1,200 to Rs 4,500, making sustained treatment unaffordable for most Indians.

A patient requires dialysis when his kidneys that filter and eliminate waste and excess fluid from the body doesn't function normally. Patients with kidney failure would require at least three dialysis sessions per week.

The device, which is completely designed and manufactured in India, integrates cloud-based tele-nephrology and real-time remote monitoring, allowing doctors to oversee patient treatment from afar.
