The Supreme Court will soon be linked to the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) platform, which can track the pendency of cases, said Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on September 14.

"Laudatory step by the Supreme Court and CJI DY Chandrachud Ji. Such harnessing of technology will further transparency and enhance the justice delivery system in our country," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The top court was previously outside the purview of the NJDG, which is a repository of data related to the pendency and disposal rate of courts. It tracks cases from the taluka to the national level. Currently, the portal shows data only up to the high court level.

"A small announcement. It is a historic day. It is a unique and informative platform developed by the NIC and the in-house team of the Supreme Court. Now, at the click of a button, you can see real-time information on the pendency and disposal of cases, year-wise, total pendency of registered and unregistered cases, and the number of cases decided quorum-wise," the CJI said.
