Check-in systems at airports across India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru airports were down causing commotion for passengers on July 19 morning. Airlines particularly IndiGo, Akasa and SpiceJet were affected due to glitch in check-in systems.
Later, Delhi airport officials said that check-in counters were back after a three-hour disruption because of the Microsoft issue between 11.30 am to 2.30 pm. IndiGo cancelled 32 flights across India.
This technical error is a part of the bigger, global Microsoft outage, which is leaving users across the world unable to access its cloud computing platforms and causing airlines to cancel flights.
Thousands of users across the world reported problems with Microsoft 365 apps and services to Downdetector.com, a website that tracks service disruptions.

Back home, airline officials said that impact on flights so far has been minimal, some flights being delayed as airlines are using alternate methods like Excel to check-in and manage booking services. The carriers have also started manual check-in to ensure minimal disruption to passengers and flight schedules.
However, web-check in feature temporarily unavailable for passengers across India.
Meanwhile, airlines issued statement on the ongoing glitch affecting their systems.
Akasa Airlines Spokesperson said, "Due to infrastructure issues with our service provider, some of our online services, including booking, check-in and manage booking services will be temporarily unavailable. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and want to assure you that our teams are working with our service provider to resolve the same at the earliest."
"We're currently facing a technical issue in providing updates on flight disruptions. Our team is actively working to resolve this issue. We regret for any inconvenience caused and will update you once the issue is resolved. Thank you for your patience and co-operation," said SpiceJet Spokesperson.
IndiGo also tweeted, "Our systems are currently impacted by a Microsoft outage, which is also affecting other companies. During this time booking, check-in, access to your boarding pass, and some flights may be impacted. We appreciate your patience."
Bengaluru's international airport spokesperson added that Indigo, Akasa, and SpiceJet in T1 and Air India Express in T2 are among the impacted airlines. The Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE) and Common Use Self Service (CUSS) systems are also experiencing disruptions. To avoid more issues, airlines at the airport are handing out manual check-ins.

The first glitches emerged in the US late on Thursday, blamed on a failure of Microsoft services including Azure and 365.
The LSE Group, which operates the London stock exchange, said it’s experiencing a global technical issue preventing news from being published.

The latest failures came right after Microsoft said it had resolved an Azure cloud services outage. A Microsoft spokesperson said the company is looking into the reported outages and issues.
