Universal Basic Income is being debated as Sikkim's ruling party Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has announced plans to rollout the state wide scheme by 2022 in its election manifesto. Reports suggest that the Centre could announce a similar nationwide Universal Basic Income or UBI in the upcoming Interim Budget.
