KP Sharma Oli, who was the Prime Minister of Nepal until Tuesday, when he resigned following massive protests that turned violent, has penned his first words after his ouster.

In a letter that was made public by Chief of Press Chautari Nepal, Oli said that if he had not made certain assertions during his tenure, he would not be getting punished like this and that his life would have taken a different turn.

"I have insisted that social media doing business in our country should follow the rules here and be listed. I have insisted that Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura are ours. I have insisted that Lord Shri Ram was born in Nepal and not in India as mentioned in the scriptures. If I had backed down on these insistences," he said in the roughly translated excerpt from the letter published by Nepali news website Setopati.

"I would have had many other opportunities…I would have achieved many things. If the map of Nepal including Limpiyadhura had not been sent to the United Nations or if others had let me do as I wanted, my life would have taken a different turn," the letter added.
