Internet Freedom in India improves after 4 years of decline: Freedom House
India's internet freedom score improved by two points to 51 in the global ranking following efforts to bridge the digital divide in the country, the US government-funded NGO Freedom House said on Tuesday. The improvement in the score is also based on reduced frequency and intensity of internet shutdowns in the country.
Invesco, others sell Zee shares worth Rs 1,396 crore
Investment firm Invesco and OFI Global China along with other entities sold 5.51 per cent in Zee Entertainment Ltd (ZEEL) for more than Rs 1,396 crore through open transactions. A total of 5,29,35,068 shares of the company were offloaded at a price of Rs 263.7 apiece, according to block deal data available with the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Vivo to release software updates for its devices this month to support 5G services of Jio and Airtel
Smartphone maker Vivo on Tuesday said it will release software updates this month to make most of its 5G-enable handsets work with both standalone and non-standalone 5G networks. Standalone 5G network transmits only 5G signal, while the signal with a mix of 4G and 5G networks is called non-standalone 5G network.

'TET-qualified' candidates in Bengal stage indefinite sit-in, hunger strike seeking jobs
At least 500 candidates, claiming to have cleared Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in 2014, are staging an indefinite sit-in outside the office of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education in Salt Lake over the past two days, demanding that they be given immediate job appointment letters. Twenty of them began a hunger strike on Tuesday morning, asserting that they would not call off the protest till an acceptable solution is offered to them.

Axis Bank hikes MCLR rates across tenors by 25 bps
Axis Bank has increased the marginal cost of funds based lending rates (MCLR) by 25 basis points across tenors with immediate effect, the bank said on Tuesday. The country's third largest private sector lender in a communication on its website stated that the benchmark one-year MCLR is up by 25 basis points to 8.35 per cent with effect from October 18, 2022.
Delhi's air quality poor for 3rd consecutive day
Delhi recorded its air quality in the "poor" category for the third consecutive day on Tuesday, and no improvement is likely in the next six days, forecasting agencies said here. Delhi's 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) stood at 241 at 4 pm. It was 254 in Ghaziabad, 258 in Faridabad, 216 in Greater Noida, 258 in Gurugram and 242 in Noida.

An aircraft of a private airlines was successfully test landed at the newly constructed Donyi Polo airport in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday scripting a new chapter in the country's aviation history. The airport after it is commissioned will be the first in Arunachal Pradesh, the easternmost state of the country, and bring it to the aviation map of the country.
