As the families of the newlywed couple from Indore who went missing while holidaying in Meghalaya presses for CBI probe after the body of the man was found, the search for the woman is still on with none other than the chief minister Conrad Sangma promising full support in finding the woman and ensuring justice for the man.
Newly wed couple Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam visited some areas during their honeymoon in Meghalaya before they went missing on May 23. While Raja Raghuvanshi's body was found in a gorge on June 2, a search is still on for his wife.
We take a look at the timelines of events unfolded since the couple left their village for the north-eastern state for honeymoon.
-The couple - Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam - got married on May 11 and arrived from Indore in Madhya Pradesh at Mawlakhiat village on May 22. The couple left their village for Meghalaya on May 20.
-The couple Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam checked out of a homestay at Nongriat on May 23 and proceeded to Mawlakhait village without a guide.
-According to the police, the couple arrived at Mawlakhiat village on May 23 on a rented scooter.
-Their mobile phones were last detected at Mawlakhait village.
-The two-wheeler hired by the couple was found abandoned on May 23 at Sohrarim village, about 50 km south.
-They parked their scooter and trekked 3000 plus steps down the gorge to visit the famous living rootbridges at Nongriat village under Sohra police station where they stayed for the night and left the homestay the following morning, police said.
-On May 24, their scooter was found abandoned at a cafe along the road from Shillong to Sohra following which the police were informed and by Sunday the initial search operation was planned with the help of the local villagers.
-On May 27, MP CM Mohan Yadav sought help from his Meghalaya counterpart Conrad Sangma in tracing missing Indore couple. During the conversation, Sangma told Yadav that the Meghalaya police and administration are making every effort to trace the coupl.
-A massive search and rescue operation was launched by police and villagers in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district for the couple from the days followed.
-Meghalaya Police also deployed drones, sniffer dogs for the search operations.
-On June 2, the man's body was found in the north-eastern state, while the search for his wife continues.
-NDRF personnel also joined the search for the woman after her husband's body was found in a gorge in Sohra area of Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district.
-Police recovered a bloodstained weapon which they believed was used in the murder of Raja, a raincoat was also found in Mawkma village, a few kilometres from the gorge where Raja's body was discovered.
-A murder case has been registered and the police have instituted a special investigation team (SIT) probe the incident.
-Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that his government will leave no stone unturned to ensure that those behind the murder.
-Rescuers as of June 7 made no headway in the search for Sonam Raghuvanshi with the heavy rainfall and low visibility continue to affect the search operation in Sohra area.
