Gujarat govt launches policy to reuse treated waste water

The Gujarat government today unveiled its 'Reuse of Treated Waste Water Policy' which aims to reduce the state's dependence on fresh water sources like the Narmada river.

The Gujarat government today unveiled its 'Reuse of Treated Waste Water Policy' which aims to reduce the state's dependence on fresh water sources like the Narmada river.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel launched the policy at a function held in Gandhinagar today.

The policy will promote the use of treated waste water and will see the setting up of sewage treatment plants (STP) in all major towns and cities of Gujarat.

An official release said that under this policy, the state government planned to construct 161 sewage treatment plants to treat waste water and use it for non-drinking purposes.
