A video is going viral on social media platforms, showing Khalistani supporters in Canada making controversial comments. In the video, a man can be heard calling white Canadians as “invaders” and asking them to return to Europe and England.
The over two-minutes video was shared by a journalist named Daniel Bordman on the social media platform X. The footage shows a public gathering where several individuals can be seen carrying Khalistani flags.
It includes audio of an individual, believed to be the person recording, making verbal statements. According to several reports, the event was a ‘Nagar Kirtan’ procession organised in observance of Guru Nanak Jayanti.
“This is our country. We are the owners of Canada. We are proud Canadians. You are from Europe. Go back to Europe and England. You are not Canadians, you are invaders, we are native Indians,” the person can be heard saying.
The person even says “Go back Simon”, a popular slogan that was used during India’s freedom struggle.
Moneycontrol could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.
Indian intelligence sources termed the incident the “new normal" in Canada, saying Khalistanis were slowly “capturing" all aspects of the country, CNN-News18 reported. “In the absence of proper surveillance, these groups are taking over control from local Canadians too. Hindus are being asked money for protection and now, there is threat to locals in their colonies.”
India-Canada relations:
The relations between India and Canada have come under severe strain following Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations in September last year of a “potential” involvement of Indian agents in Khalistan extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar's killing.
New Delhi rejected Trudeau's charges as “absurd”.
Nijjar, a Canadian citizen, was designated a terrorist by India.
India has been maintaining that the main issue between the two countries is that of Canada giving space to pro-Khalistan elements operating from Canadian soil with impunity.
