The law ministry informed on Monday that Chief justices have been appointed to five high courts and four high court judges have been transferred.
According to separate law ministry notifications, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. He was so far the acting chief justice of that court.
Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Law & Justice, said on X (formerly known as Twitter), "In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, the President is pleased to appoint following Judges as Chief Justices of High Courts along with transfer of following Chief Justices."
Judges appointed as Chief Justices of High Court —
1) Sanjeev Sachdeva - presently Acting Chief Justice at Madhya Pradesh High Court — has been appointed Chief Justice at Madhya Pradesh High Court. 2) Vibhu Bakhru - presently Judge at Delhi High Court — has been appointed Chief Justice at Karnataka High Court. 3) Ashutosh Kumar - presently Acting Chief Justice at Patna High Court — has been appointed Chief Justice at Gauhati High Court. 4) Vipul Manubhai Pancholi - presently Judge at Patna High Court — has been appointed Chief Justice at Patna High Court. 5) Tarlok Singh Chauhan - presently Judge at Himachal Pradesh High Court — has been appointed Chief Justice at Jharkhand High Court.
Judges transferred —
1) Manindra Mohan Shrivastava has been transferred from Rajasthan High Court to Madras High Court 2) Aparesh Kumar Singh has been transferred from Tripura High Court to Telangana High Court 3) MS Ramachandra Rao has been transferred from Jharkhand High Court to Tripura High Court 4) KR Shriram has been transferred from Madras High Court to Rajasthan High Court
Justice Vibhu Bakhru, a judge of the Delhi High Court, has now been elevated as chief justice of the Karnataka High Court, while Justice Ashutosh Kumar, the acting chief justice of the Patna High Court, is now chief justice of the Gauhati High Court.
Similarly, Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi, a judge of the Patna High Court, has been appointed as its chief justice. Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan of the Himachal Pradesh High Court is now the chief justice of the Jharkhand High Court.
Their names were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on May 26.
