Air India and IndiGo on Saturday issued travel advisories warning passengers of possible disruptions as Cyclone Ditwah brings heavy rain and strong winds to Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and parts of Sri Lanka. Chennai Airport officials confirmed that 54 flights have already been cancelled across multiple districts due to the worsening weather.

In a statement posted on X, the airline said flights to and from Colombo, Jaffna, Puducherry, Thoothukudi, Tiruchirappalli, Chennai and Madurai “may face disruptions” as its teams continue to monitor the situation.

Chennai Airport officials said 16 flights from Chennai to Thoothukudi, Madurai and Trichy were cancelled on Saturday along with their return services. Another 22 flights from Madurai, Trichy and Puducherry to Bengaluru and Hyderabad were also called off.
