The death toll from the outbreak in India is at 9,900. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat have reported the highest number of cases. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief ministers will be holding video conferences on Wednesday.
Globally, there have been over 80.3 lakh confirmed cases of COVID-19. At least 4.36 lakh people have died so far. The United States, Brazil, Russia, India and the United Kingdom are the most-affected countries.
Odisha govt launches door-to-door COVID-19 survey
With over 5.5 lakh people returning to Odisha so far, the state government on Tuesday launched a 45-day intensive surveillance to detect coronavirus symptoms among the population. ASHA and anganwadi workers have started visiting villages across the state and slums in urban pockets to find out and take note of people having COVID-19 symptoms.
They will cover 53,845 villages and all slums in 103 urban pockets in the state between June 16 and July 31, National Health Mission's Odisha director Shalini Pandit said.

The death from COVID-19 in the city mounted to 1,837 on Tuesday while 1,859 fresh coronavirus cases took the tally in the national capital to over 44,000-mark, according to the health bulletin released by the Delhi government.The death toll from COVID-19 in Delhi stood at 1,400 on Monday.
Ninety-three fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours, the Delhi Health Department bulletin said. However, the bulletin also said the cumulative figure included all pending deaths reported to and audited by the Death Audit Committee. From June 12-14, over 2,000 cases were reported per day in the city. The highest spike of 2,224 fresh cases was recorded on June 14. The bulletin said the death toll from coronavirus infection has climbed to 1,837, and the total number of cases mounted to 44,688. (PTI)
