A student was killed and eight others were injured after a Class 9 boy attacked fellow students with a bed rod at a residential school in Karnataka’s Ballari district late on Saturday night.
According to Ballari police, the incident took place after dinner at a Gurukul residential school when the students were asleep in the hostel. According to news agency ANI, the boy took a bed rod and went on a rampage, attacking anyone he found inside the dormitory.
As reported by ANI, nine students were assaulted during the attack, of whom one succumbed to the injuries and two others are critically injured. All the injured students were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and are currently under observation.
Police have launched an investigation to probe the reason why the boy went on a rampage mode.
