An explosion occurred at a nightclub owned by singer and rapper Badshah in Sector 26 of Chandigarh on Tuesday morning when two suspects on a motorcycle threw a low-intensity bomb. The explosion took place between 2.30 and 2.45 am.
CCTV footage shows a man throwing crude bombs at the clubs and running away.
According to Indian Express, following the attack at Sevillee, the miscreants also targeted De Orra Club, located just 30 metres away, throwing a similar explosive device. Both incidents have prompted heightened security measures as the police work to secure the area and investigate the blasts. Sevillee is owned by rapper Badshah.
The blast outside rapper Badshah’s Sevillee lounge in Sector 26, Chandigarh, has added to police concerns ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the city on December 3.
According to PTI, the explosion occurred outside De’orra Club in Chandigarh. No official statements have been released about the incident yet but reports indicate that a police investigation is currently underway.
India Today quoted its sources in its report as saying that the device may have been a crude bomb, possibly intended for extortion. According to the report, the explosion is believed to have been caused by homemade bombs. The blast shattered the glass windows of the establishment, but no injuries were reported.
