BJP or JD(U): Who will emerge as the big brother in NDA if the alliance wins the Bihar elections? That's the big question on everyone's minds as counting for the 243-member Bihar assembly is under way on Friday.
The trends already show that the NDA is poised to sweep the Bihar elections, with the alliance leading in over 2/3rd of the total seats. The action will now slowly shift to the internal friendly fight between JD(U) and BJP about the leadership within the alliance.
The latest trends show both BJP and JD(U) neck-and-neck in the counting, reflecting a healthy friendly fight for dominance. Both parties contested an equal number of seats at 101.
As per the latest trends at 10am, BJP is ahead on 75 seats while the JD(U) is leading in 77 constituencies.
In the 2020 election, BJP clearly emerged as the dominant force within NDA after winning 74 seats while JD(U) settled for just 43 seats.
However, the exit polls have predicted that both allies are likely to put up a strong performance together, powering an NDA sweep in the state.
The News18 Mega Exit Poll predicted that the JD(U) may well emerge as the single largest party in the state.
If the trends hold, it will be interesting to see which party ultimately emerges as the "Big brother" within NDA.
