To enhance commuter engagement and road safety, Bengaluru Traffic Police on January 29 unveiled a ‘Traffic Police Museum and Experience Centre’, along with ASTraM (Actionable Intelligence for Sustainable Traffic Management) mobile app.
Inaugurating the facility at the Traffic Management Centre on Infantry Road, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said the ‘Traffic Police Museum’ is a unique institution dedicated to showcasing the history and evolution of traffic management in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayananda said: “The museum has vintage traffic equipment, historic photographs, uniforms, and documents that trace the city’s traffic management history”.

“It also offers interactive displays on road safety and traffic rules, making it an engaging space for students, researchers, traffic professionals, and citizens interested in understanding the complexities of urban traffic management” he said.
Officials said that the initiative aims to celebrate the legacy of Bengaluru Traffic Police by highlighting its milestones and evolution.
“It showcases pioneering achievements such as the city’s first AI-based signaling and digital enforcement systems. Through interactive exhibits and informative displays, the museum seeks to educate citizens on the science behind traffic management while inspiring visitors, especially students, to appreciate and support those who enforce traffic regulations” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Bengaluru Traffic) MN Anucheth.
Alongside the museum, Bengaluru Traffic Police also launched the ASTraM mobile app, designed as a comprehensive solution for commuters. The app provides real-time traffic updates to help commuters with better route planning. It enables users to report accidents, encouraging a culture of shared responsibility. It also allows for seamless violation reporting and offers an online platform for viewing and paying traffic fines, along with a redressal mechanism for disputing incorrect fines.
“ASTraM app ensures greater participation and accountability. It is now available for both iOS and Android platforms which will integrate citizens into the city’s traffic management ecosystem” he said.
