A Muslim woman from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh faced the wrath of her husband for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. According to a report by News18 Hindi Uttar Pradesh, the praise infuriated her husband to the extent that he burned her face.
Unappeased by this act, he then gave her triple talaq. The matter came to light through a video put out by the woman calling on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take action.
The victim, identified as Mariyam, claims she did nothing to warrant such domestic abuse. In her video, she claims that her only "mistake" was commenting on how beautiful Ayodhya has become.
Her husband’s anger over this praise led him to beat her and oust her from their home. He later called her back, burned her face, and pronounced a triple talaq, she said sharing her ordeal in the video.
Mariyam said that her marriage to Arshad, who also hails from Ayodhya took place on December 13. Upon visiting Ayodhya with her husband and admiring the beauty of Lata Chowk, she made a remark on the positive changes in the city, and attributed them to Yogi Adityanath.
Her husband’s anger over this praise led him to send her to her parental home instead of taking her back. Although he later allowed her to return, the physical abuse continued.
Mariyam claimed that her husband repeatedly assaulted her, always citing her praise of Modi and Yogi as the reason. Her in-laws supported the abuse, including an incident where her husband poured hot lentils on her face, causing burns.
Following this, he pronounced a triple talaq. Mariyam claims that her FIR has not been filed yet which has compelled her to seek justice through a video appeal to the Chief Minister.
