Amul kiosks to come up at 10 Bengaluru metro stations; BMRCL signs agreement

Ten Bengaluru metro stations will soon have Amul kiosks. Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) recently signed a licence agreement with Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd, better known as Amul, to set up kiosks at stations.

The decisions is a far cry from the run-up to the 2023 Karnataka assembly elections when Amul’s foray into the Bengaluru had triggered a political row. The Congress, which was then in opposition, had accused the BJP-led government of enabling Gujarat-based Amul’s entry at the cost of Karnataka’s dairy ecosystem and lakhs of local farmers.

“These kiosks will sell the entire range of Amul’s dairy products, chocolate, potato-based snacks, organic products, and edible oils,” a newsletter issued by BMRCL on June 16 said. “Now Metro commuters can buy milk, chocolates, ice cream, instant food products, and snacks of their choice."
