Winter, with its dwindling temperatures, bring with it a host of health issues like cold, cough, flu and infections. Moreover, it can wreak havoc if you suffer from migraine. The cold triggers lead to an increased incidence of throbbing headaches.

A study published in PubMed sheds light on the impact of temperature change during winter on migraine patients. Surprisingly, it revealed that temperature change accounted for 16.5 percent of headaches among all migraine patients. This percentage rose significantly to 29.2 percent for those with temperature sensitivity, emphasising the importance of understanding individual triggers.

Changes in barometric pressure, dehydration due to indoor heating, and increased consumption of certain foods during the holiday season can all play a role. Additionally, lack of exposure to sunlight also leads to vitamin D deficiency and may increase the frequency and intensity of migraines.
