Fire at plastic manufacturing unit in Kachigam, Daman

A major fire today broke out at a leading plastic household products manufacturing unit in Kachigam area here, fire officials said.

The fire broke out at Vim Plast, a Cello Group owned company that manufactures household plastic products, they said. It took us more than five hours to bring the fire under control, they added. No loss of life was reported in the incident and fire officials from Vapi and Daman were rushed to the spot. The company officials claimed that the fire broke out due to short circuit, in which, property and equipment worth several crores of rupees was gutted.
