Ride hailing app Uber has unveiled an 'EV preference' feature at an event in London on October 8, allowing travellers to choose an electric vehicle for a ride, as well as an 'EV Mentor' programme to address concerns of drivers about green mobility.

CEO Dara Khosrowshahi announced the sustainability feature and backed EVs to drive Uber's target of becoming a zero emission platform by 2040. "The growth of EVs has slowed down in major markets, but the number of EV sales continue to rise, and at Uber EVs are really taking off," Khosrowshahi said. "The reality is that we will only reach or zero emission goals if policymakers and other businesses do their part as well," Khosrowshahi added.
