MB Mahesh – Banking Analyst at Kotak Institutional Equities told CNBC-TV18, "We broadly continue to maintain in our preferred ideas in some of the frontline names. In the private sector banks despite the weak commentary coming through, ICICI Bank is still one of our preferred ideas to own. Across the next 2-3 years timeframe, if you look at the changes that the bank has affected already on the liabilities side and the changes that they are doing on the asset side right now, it broadly points towards a much better performance by the banks over the next 1 or 2 years."
"ICICI Bank will remain our preferred idea, the second one would be Axis Bank in that space. In the mid-tier ones we continue to like Federal Bank even at these levels. In the smaller caps we like DCB Bank. Amongst the PSU banks we would be little bit more selective. We would prefer State Bank of India (SBI) over the most of the other names even at these levels despite the wide valuation premium that exists in some of these names," he said.
