PM Narendra Modi to hand over possession of 15,000 affordable homes in Solapur next month

This is the largest Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme in Maharashtra. The houses will be allotted free of cost to beedi workers, textile mill workers, rag-pickers, and construction workers. Work has started on another 15,000 houses.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to hand over 15,000 affordable homes in India's largest Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme in Maharashtra's Solapur district next month, Valsa Nair Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Housing Department of Maharashtra, announced on September 15.

"The biggest housing scheme for the economically weaker section is now in the final stages of being built at a place called Ray Nagar in Solapur. The PM is coming next month to inaugurate it," Singh said.

"We have 15,000 houses on the ground, and for another 15,000 houses, work has started. Every house is 300 sq ft, and people who earn less than Rs 3 lakh (per annum) are eligible."

The PMAY project includes 30,000 homes spread over 100 acres, where each unit costs around Rs 6 lakh.
