In order to utilise vacant land parcels in different industrial projects across the state, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has decided to collate data from all functional and non-functional projects and prepare a land bank, officials aware of the development said.
Over 42,000 industrial units are functional in the areas developed by nine industrial bodies across the state, including Noida, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), UP State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC), and others.
According to government estimates, in Gautam Budh Nagar district alone there are around 15,000 functional industrial projects under the Noida, GNIDA, and YEIDA authorities.
The other industrial bodies in UP include the Lucknow Industrial Development Authority (LIDA), Satharia Industrial Development Authority (SIDA), Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA), and UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA).
Invest UP, the investment promotion and facilitation agency of the state government, has been entrusted with the task of creating a detailed database covering all industrial units and the vacant space available under each authority, that can be allocated to new industries across the state.
Officials said that the land bank will not only help the government and authorities in identifying empty plots, but also help domestic and global investors who want to purchase industrial plots to set up their businesses.
Invest UP will hire a consultant to conduct the survey of all industrial projects and townships and prepare the database, an Noida authority official said.
“The exercise will include an assessment of the area under each industrial authority to find the number of functional units. The agency will also identify non-functional industrial units and plots lying vacant, along with details related to the kind and size of industrial units, and the scale of investment,” said a YEIDA official.
Another official said that the state government also wants to develop a mobile application in which such details will be uploaded so that the government and industrialists can access the data.
He said that the UP government has emphasised bringing more investment to the state, and has asked all agencies to launch plot schemes in their respective areas to draw the interest of investors.
The entire process is likely to be completed in the next four to five months, and the database is likely to be ready after the survey, the official said.
