Patanjali says SC observation on 'misleading ads' won't affect business of food arm

The observations "do not have any beating" on the regular-business operations or the financial performance of Patanjali Foods, a regulatory filing stated.

The Supreme Court's observation of "misleading advertisements" over some of the products sold by Patanjali Ayurved will not affect the business of Patanjali Foods Ltd, which is a seperate listed entity, the Ramdev-led company clarified on February 27.

The apex court bench, earlier in the day, issued a show-cause notice to Patanjali Ayurved, co-founded by yoga guru Ramdev, and managing director Balakrishna for going back on their promise to not make "misleading claims" in advertisements for its medicines.

The top court was hearing a writ petition filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) over misleading advertisements by certain companies.

"The observations of the Supreme Court of India do not relate to Patanjali Foods Limited which is an independent listed entity and operates in the space of edible oil and food FMCG products only," Patanjali Foods said in a regulatory filing.
