Fiscal fears sticky, will stunt growth noticeably: Axis AMC

Defying the government's confidence to maintain that fiscal deficit target, Rajiv Anand of Axis AMC says, "A 4.6% fiscal deficit is going to be difficult. We are going to see fair amount of slippage as far as growth is concerned."

The government has come out in the open and said we have seen a decline on the small savings fund to the tune of about Rs 35,000 crore. There is now going to be an increased market borrowing of about Rs 53,000 crore and yet, the government continues to stick to the fiscal deficit target.

In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Rajiv Anand of Axis AMC says the market had priced the leakages amounting to about Rs 50, 000 crore. However says the market is surprised with the upfront declaration by the government borrowing. Defying the government's confidence to maintain that fiscal deficit target, Anand says, "A 4.6% fiscal deficit is going to be difficult. We are going to see fair amount of slippage as far as growth is concerned." Below is an edited transcript of Rajiv Anand
