Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reported a 1.1% quarter-on-quarter decline in net profit for Q2 FY24, totaling Rs 11,909 crore, falling short of market expectations. Revenue from operations rose to Rs 64,259 crore, surpassing a Moneycontrol poll forecast of Rs 63,938 crore. Analysts had projected a net profit of Rs 12,420 crore. TCS announced a second interim dividend of Rs 10 per share, with a record date set for October 18, 2024. The company had previously paid an interim dividend of Rs 10 on July 19, 2024. Read here

Among all the generative AI-based features, the one feature that caught the most limelight was the ability to generate AI images. The feature – for better or worse – allows users to generate and even edit an existing image that looks similar to real-life images using simple text prompts. All of this has brought a major problem – how to differentiate a real image from the AI-generated ones. With AI getting better and better, things are becoming more difficult. In the results declared by the Election Commission of India, the BJP bagged 48 seats, Congress-37, INLD-2, Independents 3 while AAP drew a blank. Other smaller parties, and rebels who contested as Independents, however, dealt a bigger blow to the Congress’s chances of returning to power after a decade-long hiatus, enabling the BJP to run home for a record third successive term in power. An analysis of the final vote count reveals that in at least 14 seats where the BJP won, the margin of victory between them and the Congress was lower than the votes polled for the second runner-up.
