Foreign investors (FIIs/FPIs) net sold Rs 2,170 crore worth of Indian equities on Monday. At the same time, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) net bought shares worth Rs 3,014 crore, according to provisional exchange data.
DIIs purchased shares worth Rs 11,081 crore and sold shares worth Rs 8,066 crore. In contrast, FIIs bought shares worth Rs 8,229 crore but sold shares totalling Rs 10,399 crore.
For the year so far, FIIs have been net sellers of shares worth Rs 2.17 lakh crore, while DIIs have net bought shares worth Rs 5.26 lakh crore.
Market Performance
On Monday, the benchmark indices witnessed profit booking at higher levels with the Nifty rising by 25 points and Sensex by 150 points, by the end of the trading session. Among sectors, the Technology index lost the most, shed over 1.70 percent, whereas the Auto index gained nearly 1 percent. Even after a gap-up opening, the second half saw a quick and sharp sell-off in the market.
"Further upside may also continue, potentially lifting the index up to 25,100/81800. On the downside, 24,650/80500 and 24,600/80300 are key support zones for day traders. If the index falls below 24,600/80300, then index might fall to 24500/80000 or 24450/79800 levels in the short term," said Shrikant Chouhan, Head – Equity Research at Kotak Securities.
