Axis Asset Management Company (AMC) on March 5 announced the elevation of R Sivakumar as Chief Investment Officer (CIO), effective immediately, as part of its internal succession plan.

Sivakumar will be responsible for driving the investment strategy at Axis Mutual Fund, providing thought leadership on new fund ideas, strengthening research-led investment processes and leading the fund house’s investment teams in line with its long-term growth strategy.

The development follows the decision of CIO Ashish Gupta to pursue other professional and personal interests. In a note, Axis AMC’s management thanked Gupta for his leadership and contributions during his tenure with the organisation.

A veteran of the asset management industry, Sivakumar has been associated with Axis Asset Management Company since its inception in 2009. The fund house has grown into one of India’s largest AMCs, managing assets worth over Rs 3.75 lakh crore as of February 2026.
