The Government of India had decided to withdraw 25 paise denomination coins from circulation with effect June 30, 2011. From this date, these coins shall cease to be legal tender for payment as well as on account. Coins of denomination of 25 paise will not be accepted for exchange at bank branches from July 1, 2011 onwards.
Today, even get a chocolate or a phone call costs more than 25 paise. Experts believe the move was right to discontinue 25 paise coins.
