The Indian rupee opened at 53.12 per dollar versus 53.16 yesterday.
Mohan Shenoi, Kotak Mahindra Bank said, "Sustained appreciation of the rupee below the 53/USD level seems unlikely in view of the current account deficit. The rupee is expected to be rangebound ahead of the ECB and BOE rate decisions later today.
