Here are experts equity calls for the day on how the markets are expected to trade:

Laurence Balanco, CLSA: We expect the Nifty to be in the old consolidation range between 4725-5167 in the coming weeks. A break below 4725 would most likely lead to further weakness towards next support at 4295, the 50% retracement level of the 2008-2010 advance. The Nifty needs to break above 5167 to re-assess the current bearish trend. Gerard Minack, Morgan Stanley: We expect 2012 to be a difficult year. It is likely to be another year dominated by macro concerns, where the risk skew is bearish. Some risks could have a binary impact on important investment decisions. Amidst this uncertainty, we focus on value, yield and relative trades.
