Country’s second-largest IT major Infosys will be hiring around 15,000-20,000 freshers for the financial year 2025, bringing hopes for recent and upcoming college graduates following a year of drying IT job offers.
In FY24, Infosys had hired 11,900 freshers, a decline of 76 percent from over 50,000 freshers hired in FY23.
Speaking at the company’s first quarter earnings conference on July 18, Jayesh Sanghrajka, chief financial officer (CFO), Infosys said, “Last multiple quarters we have moved to agile hiring base. We hire freshers from on and off the campus. This quarter we had a 2000 persons net decline, which was lower than the previous quarters. Our utilisation is already at 85 percent, so we have little headroom now left. As we start seeing growth we will look at hiring.”
“We are looking to hire 15,000-20,000 freshers this year depending on how we see the growth,” he added, without divulging the number of freshers on boarded in Q1.
Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will be hiring about 40,000 freshers in FY25, of which it has already on boarded around 11,000 trainees in Q1.
As of Q1, Infosys’ headcount declined by 1,908 for the sixth consecutive quarter. In comparison, peers like TCS added 5,452 employees on a net basis. HCLTech's headcount declined sequentially by 8,080 in Q1FY25.
LTIMindtree was an exception, which added around 284 employees sequentially in Q1.
