IKEA India highlighted its commitment to sustainability by transitioning all its delivery operations in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune to 100 percent electric vehicles (EVs), marking a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and embrace greener practices.
The announcement highlights the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility and innovation, IKEA India said in a LinkedIn post. The shift to electric vehicles is part of IKEA’s broader strategy to enhance its sustainability initiatives and support India’s push towards cleaner transportation solutions.
In addition to the switch to electric delivery vehicles, IKEA is also expanding its infrastructure to support this transition. The company is rolling out new charging stations for large vehicles across India to facilitate the widespread adoption of electric transportation.
Mumbai is the next city on IKEA’s list to receive EV-powered deliveries, with the company planning to extend this green initiative to all future markets.
"We are proud to announce that all deliveries in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune are now powered by 100% electric vehicles. With Mumbai next on the list, we are excited to embrace EV deliveries in all our future markets. To make the shift to sustainability easier to adopt, we are also expanding charging stations for large vehicles across India. The journey to a greener future continues!," IKEA announced recently.
IKEA’s move to electric deliveries is part of its global commitment to achieving a zero-carbon footprint by 2030.
