See 92% long period average monsoon in July: IMD

With a long-term positive coming in, here is what Indian Meteorological Department's DS Pai predicts for monsoons.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said there has been 12 percent deficiency of rainfall, but expects 92 percent long period average (LPA) monsoon in July.

In an interview to CNBC-TV18, IMD's DS Pai shares his views on how the rainy season has panned out for the country.

Pai says the southern and central parts of India have seen good rainfall, but the El Nino phenomenon may strengthen in the coming few days.
 
On the heavy rainfall seen in Mumbai in the last 24 hours, Pai says it may continue to see more downpour for the next two days.
