First Demonetisation Committee meet to focus on digital payments

The first meeting of the 13-member Demonetisation Central Committee is underway at the RBI headquarters. The meeting is going to focus on the promotion of digital payments options and will look at some of the best practices in digital banking across states.The committee, headed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu comprises of other Chief Ministers, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant and banking experts like SBI Chief Arundhati Bhattacharya. RBI Governor Urjit Patel will be presiding over the meeting.The panel may also outline measures for the rapid expansion of digital payments and will likely draw a one year roadmap for its implementation.Watch video for more.
