NALCO Q3 profit more than doubles to Rs 119cr; shares rally

State-owned National Aluminium Company (NALCO) reported excellent numbers with the net profit growing 2.3 times year-on-year and 24.8 times quarter-on-quarter to Rs 119 crore in the third quarter, beating analysts' forecast of Rs 80 crore.

State-owned National Aluminium Company (NALCO) reported excellent numbers with the net profit growing 2.3 times year-on-year and 24.8 times quarter-on-quarter to Rs 119 crore in the third quarter of financial year 2012-13, beating analysts' forecast of Rs 80 crore.


In fact, numbers were better-than-expected on all parameters. Net sales rose by 16.8 percent YoY and 5.3 percent QoQ to Rs 1,670 crore in the December quarter as against Rs 1,650 estimated by analysts.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) grew by 3.5 times YoY to Rs 159 crore in October-December quarter as against expectations of Rs 109 crore.
EBITDA margin improved quite significantly to 9.6 percent in the third quarter of FY13 from 3.2 percent in a year ago period and negative 1.5 percent in previous quarter.
At 13:27 hours IST, shares shot up 8 percent to Rs 50.45 amid large volumes on Bombay Stock Exchange.
Trading volumes jumped quite significantly to 5,34,094 shares as against five day average of 25,933 shares. Also Read
