Mahindra Satyam's third quarter net profit was Rs 80 crore, against a CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of Rs 323 crore. The steep decline in profit was due to the settling of a law suit with global portfolio manager Aberdeen Asset Management, relating to the accounting fraud in 2009, which nearly bankrupted the company.

In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Vineet Nayyar, chairman and CP Gurnani, chief executive officer, Mahindra Satyam, talk about the earnings and the path ahead. Below is edited transcript of Nayyar and Gurnani's interview to CNBC-TV18.

Q: How do you see the company’s performance? What is the strategy here on?

Gurnani: Our strategy for growth is that we will continue to have diversified geographies. We are currently running US at about 53 percent, Europe at 24 percent and the emerging markets, which is really rest of the world at 23 percent. We will continue to maintain the same balance, in a way, a very attractive balance in the industry where almost 50 percent is Americas and 50 percent is Europe and rest of the world. Q: What about the re-auditing by High Court on specific items and the suspense account and tax liability case. Give some details about these three aspects?
Nayyar: So far as what is going on currently in the High Court in terms of integrating the two companies, certain questions have been raised by the official liquidator in regards to the treatment of Rs 1200 crore which came in. It was earlier shown by the previous management as receipts from sales or liquidations of deposits. We know that these were false. When the current management took over, we placed them in a category which said that, there was a question mark on the fact that the money has been received by the company.
