Tech giant Microsoft has said that it will be cutting 650 jobs in its Xbox unit, which is the third such layoff this year. According to a report published in Bloomberg News the latest round of job cut is an attempt by the company to rein in costs and integrate its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard

According to the memo sent to staff by Xbox chief Phil Spencer, the job cuts will affect mostly corporate and supporting functions, the report said. Microsoft in January it would let go of 1,900 employees at Activision Blizzard and Xbox.

Microsoft closed its $69 billion deal for Activision Blizzard on October last year, swelling its heft in the video-gaming market with best-selling titles including “Call of Duty” to better compete with industry leader Sony.
