Himachal suffers losses of Rs 355 cr due to excessive rains

Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Thakur Gulab Singh today said as many as 39 human lives were lost, 2,274 cattle heads perished and crops and property suffered estimated loss of Rs 355 crore due to excessive rains in some parts of the state in this monsoon season.

Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Thakur Gulab Singh today said as many as 39 human lives were lost, 2,274 cattle heads perished and crops and property suffered estimated loss of Rs 355 crore due to excessive rains in some parts of the state in this monsoon season.


He said the state government released Rs 41.23 crore to the Deputy Commissioners and concerned departments as immediate relief for restoration of public properties damaged due to the torrential rains.
He said maximum loss of Rs 74.10 crore had been reported from Kangra, followed by Kullu Rs 67.56 crore, mandi Rs 65.28 crore and Shimla Rs 44.90 crore.
Revenue Minister said 3,811 houses and crops worth Rs 103.80 crore had been damaged, causing loss of Rs 251.49 crore to properties of Public Works, Irrigation and Public Health and other departments.
Thakur Gulab Singh said Rs 30 crore had been released to the Public Works Department and Rs 2.50 crore to the Irrigation and Public Health Department for undertaking repair works of damaged infrastructure.
