The planning commission, power ministry and private sector power producers are all ranged against India's largest coal producer Coal India's e-auction of coal. Coal India disagrees on the shortage of coal and blames the infrastructure for not being able to transport the coal.
While the market seems in a constructive frame of mind with the current levels above 5400, the power sector has been under a bit of a cloud both in terms of capacity addition and input pressures.
Power minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, in an interview with CNBC-TV18's Sonia Shenoy and Mitali Mukherjee, demanded complete supply to the power sector before considering the e-auction.
