In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Kamal Baheti, CFO, McLeod Russel India gave his perspective on realisations from the tea business this season.

Below is a verbatim transcript. Also watch the accompanying video. Q: How are you looking at the prospects for tea output and realizations this season? A: This season the total overall production is expected to be lowered by around 15 million kg in North India as compared to last year. The prices in North India had been higher, they are higher by around Rs 10-12 per kg. But the overall situation has been that the lower crop and higher prices on the backdrop of the last year saw very good prices. It augurs very well for the industry this year and for the coming years as well. Q: What kind of production figures are you looking out for the domestic situation, less than 980 million? A: The expected production is around 965 million kg because the reported numbers till November is around 14 million lower as compared to last year when we made 980 million.
