Lilliput Kidswear has said that anonymous callers are trying to defame the company. It has gone to the police and has written to banks to say the IPO was sabotaged, reports CNBC-TV18's Malvika Jain.
Lilliput has filed a police complaint against unknown callers saying that they have made an attempt to defame the company. The numbers of these callers have been identified and the police are looking into the matter.
The company in its letters to its bankers has said that this whole exercise by the PE investors is in a way an attempt to sabotage the IPO.
Private equity investors Bain Capital and TPG had pulled out of the company along with the auditors. They had done this on the basis of calls, which they had received from unknown persons.
Furthermore, Lilliput has gone onto say that it is surprising that just on the basis of unknown calls such a big decision have been taken by the investors and the auditors.
Lilliput has also said that the company is surprised that these allegations were accepted, especially by Bain Capital considering that it was an active partner and that it was a regular visitor to its offices.
