2G auction deadline may get tough for govt: Sources

CNBC-TV18’s Rituparna Bhuyan reports, quoting telecom department sources who indicate that it may be difficult for the government to meet the 2G auctions deadline set by the Supreme Court.

Telecom department sources indicate it may be difficult for the government to meet the 2G auctions deadline set by the Supreme Court, reports CNBC-TV18's Rituparna Bhuyan.


Even as the eGoM on the 2G spectrum sale that has been notified, telecom ministry sources have maintained that the government may find it difficult to adhere to the Supreme Court mandated deadline of August 31.
The ministry does not rule out going to the Supreme Court and ask for an extension if the government feels the deadline will not be met. This eventuality would be significant as the Supreme Court had state that it would impose an exemplary fine on the government on failure to meet the August 31 deadline.
