The inter-ministerial group (IMG) will begin its 3-day review of the 67 coal blocks today, reports CNBC-TV18’s Anshu Sharma.
Today a 3-day crucial IMG meeting will begin to review the performances of 67 companies in developing coal blocks that were allotted since 1993.
The IMG’s review includes 58 show-cause notices sent earlier by the coal ministry and also the encashment of 18 companies’ bank guarantees. Don't miss: Allottees of 60 coal blocks may have gained by Rs 1.97L cr
The IMG will focus initially on 25 private companies including Tata Power, Hindalco, Monnet Ispat and JSPL among others. At its meeting today, as many as 10 companies will present their case before the IMG finalizes its recommendation. The IMG is working with a deadline of September 15 set by the coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal.
