In what could be a sign of some relief for the Indian IT sector, industry body National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) informed that the clauses adverse to the IT sector in the US Immigration Bill have been removed, reports CNBC-TV18's Kritika Saxena.
Also Read: US immigration bill passes key test vote in SenateOf the two Immigration Bills under consideration- the Senate Bill and the House Bill - it is the Senate Bill that contained adverse clauses such as the outplacement clause which will cause damage to Indian IT revenues and thereby affect the India's gross domestic product (GDP) as a whole.
Nasscom announced that it has received clarification and assurance from the judicial committee in the US that the House Bill will be taken up along with the Senate Bill.
The Senate Bill is due for hearing on Friday. Nasscom added that the US government had raised some concerns regarding regulatory hurdles faced by US companies in India which will be examined in its hearing. The US judicial committee also informed Nasscom that the process for the Bill to become an act will be spread over four months.
