Hero Motocorp has entered the last leg of wage negotiations with its workers who are demanding close to a three-time hike in salaries, reports CNBC-TV18's Ronojoy Banerjee.
After Maruti this is going to be the next big settlement and if the settlement goes as per what the workers demand, it is sure to set a trend in the Gurgoan Manesar belt.
We must keep in mind that this is the first time the management is going to negotiate with a union at the Gurgoan factory. Back in 2008 when the last settlement happened, at that point in time the negotiations happened through a committee.
Coming to the specific demands, the workers have sort a near three-time increase in their wages which could take the overall cost of workers in the Gurgoan factory for the company to over Rs 1 lakh. This includes also various types of other kinds of benefits as well.
Besides, the workers have also asked for a 80 percent payout in the first year. This seems to be a direct fallout of what happened in Maruti. The workers have demande the wage cycle to be reduced to three years from four. Hero MotoCorp is maintaining that its has got very good relations with the workers and said that the workers at the Hero MotoCorp factory are among the best paid.
