Civil Aviation Minister, Ajit Singh today expressed his inability to interfere in the affairs of Kingfisher Airlines' employees. Although, he said he hopes Kingfisher takes wings again for the sake of its 4000 odd employees, there is nothing he can do for the hapless employees of Vijay Mallya's airline, reports CNBC-TV18's Sumit Jha.
Civil Aviation Minister, Ajit Singh dashed the hopes of Kingfisher employees when he said, his ministry could not do much to interfere and get the employees their dues. He also sounded unsure if any other other governmental department can come out and help them. Kingfisher management had brokered a deal with their employees in late October and promised them scattered payment of salaries. However, two months down the line those promises still remain unfulfilled. The employees said that they have been writing to the CEO of the airline, as well as the government but nobody has come out to their rescue yet. They also have a deep mistrust of the management, as the management has consistently been falling short of their promises. The employees are pinning hopes on Etihad and Kingfisher deal which does not seem to be happening anymore as Jet Airways seems to be clearly winning the race. So, it is a very despondent situation for the employees. On this issue Ajit Singh said, "We sympathize with them but if their employer is not in a position to fly, there is nothing we can do. I don't know if labour ministry can do anything or not. As far as civil aviation ministry is concerned we certainly can not because their basic problem is they don't have adequate finances." "I still hope for the sake of lot people involved in this business, there will be a lot of collateral damage if they don't fly again. We can only wish but we are in no position to help them," he addedDiscover the latest Business News, Sensex, and Nifty updates.
