There is no reason to cheer for fliers as yet, as IndiGo's president Aditya Ghosh told CNBC-TV18 that base fares will not come down immediately. Ghosh said that the airlines will first evaluate how it can recover costs from unbundling before bringing down fares. Speaking on recent air service agreement with Abu Dhabi, Ghosh said IndiGo has no plans to start operations to Abu Dhabi as it wants to focus on existing routes.

Our attempt will be to bring down the total fares, but whether the fares come down or not, also the passengers will now be able to choose what they want to pay for."
"If somebody wants the luxury of being able to pre-assign seat for themselves, they will pay a certain fee but the other person doesn’t have to pay for it. If you have just showed up at the check-in counter and asked for a seat and you get assigned to it, there is no charge at check-in."
