It's not just Kingfisher Airlines, which is facing turbulence. Low yields, a falling rupee and rising fuel costs means all domestic carriers have reported losses this quarter.

And last night's steep 2% increase in ATF prices has only strengthened Kingfisher demand for direct import of ATF. But is the government open to such a move? CNBC-TV18's Rituparno Bhuyan reports.
KFA has filed a request for direct ATF import.
A direct ATF import by KFA will need the approval of Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). So far, ATF import was allowed through Indian Oil,
Sources say DGFT has never received any request for direct ATF import but it has allowed direct import of canalized items in the past.
The KFA request will be a test case for the ATF import norms. Other airline companies may also file similar requests if KFA gets the nod from DGFT.
